Welcome

The Welcome screen is the first thing you see when you open iPodRocks.

What it does

The Welcome panel gives you a quick overview of the app and links to every main area: Dashboard, Library, Playlists, Auto Podcasts, Extra Audiobooks, Devices, Sync, and Settings. It explains that iPodRocks works with any Rockbox or mountable device and guides you to use the sidebar for navigation.

Three cards make up the page:

  • Hero — logo, a short description, a link to the full documentation, and the Check for Updates button (see below).
  • Get started — one line per sidebar tab, describing what each panel is for, including Extra Audiobooks (LibriVox) and the Listening Stats now on the Dashboard.
  • Features — a compact, two-column list covering the app's feature set: Sync, Multiple devices, Library & shadows, Playlists (Classic, Smart, Genius, Savant), Genius (the named playback-history playlist types), Rockbox-native smart playlists (tagnavi), Podcasts, Rocksy, Harmonic mixing, Conversion & codecs, Star ratings, and Listening stats.

A Check for Updates button in the top-right corner of the hero card lets you manually check whether a new version of iPodRocks is available on GitHub. When a newer release is found, a modal shows the version number and a "Go to Releases" link. The modal also offers a 30-day snooze: ticking the checkbox before closing suppresses the automatic startup check for 30 days. The manual button always works regardless of the snooze state.

How it works

The Welcome screen is a static landing page. It does not load data from the database or devices (aside from the update check itself). The "Get started" and "Features" cards are plain content — no live data.

How to work with it

  1. Read the overview to understand the workflow: add a library folder, add a device, optionally create playlists, then sync.
  2. Use the sidebar to jump to Library, Devices, Playlists, Auto Podcasts, Extra Audiobooks, or Sync.
  3. After your first setup, you can skip Welcome and go directly to Dashboard for an at-a-glance view of your library, devices, and listening stats.
